Trust A Trader to launch campaign to crack down on cowboy traders

Rogue traders are on the rise. Time and again we hear stories from consumers who have turned to one of our Trusted Traders to fix the shoddy work of a cowboy; more often than not it is society’s most vulnerable people who are targeted. Reports of bogus tradespeople exploiting the elderly are increasingly common.

To counter this rise in exploitation, TrustATrader is launching an initiative in November to help stop rogue traders.
We will be providing resources which will show you how to spot a rogue trader, as well as sharing advice on what to do if you do get stung. We will also be sharing some real life stories from victims of rogue traders, giving homeowners an insight into how rogue traders operate and the damage that they can do.
Trust A Trader will supply a range of images and posters to help deter rogue traders from visiting your home. There are also useful resources for Trusted Traders too, including downloadable imagery that highlights the fact that you are a valued, accredited trader.
As part of the campaign, we will be supporting Friends of the Elderly’s Be A Friend Campaign. The campaign is about transforming the lives of lonely older people. As older people are so often the victims of the rogue traders, we were keen to support this worthy cause.
You can find out more here or make a donation on our JustGiving page. Further information on how both traders and homeowners can get involved will be revealed when we launch our campaign in November.
